KAWA Desk Calendar for 2022

"This is already my favorite calendar." Don't givers love to hear that? Anne had the idea for the desk calendar. My idea was to select the KAWAs that were most popular in the online shop last year. The result is truly an eye-catcher, one that doesn't take up much space on the desk and yet is constantly present. And if things aren't going so well, just glance at the calendar and cheer up. It's that simple. We selected the following KAWAs for 2022:

  • Appreciation
  • Mindfulness
  • Resilience
  • Cheerfulness
  • Positive Beliefs
  • Anti-Motivation Killers
  • Emotional Intelligence
  • Responsibility
  • Respect
  • Coexistence
  • Splendor of Colors

What does KAWA actually mean?

KAWA, according to Vera F. Birkenbihl, is an acronym and stands for: Kreative Ausbeute von Wort-Assoziationen (Creative Exploitation of Word Associations). But KAWA is easier to remember. You can create KAWAs on any topic that interests you. In our shop, in addition to our associations, you can get a template for your own suggestions.

How about your own KAWA?

First, you write the topic in large letters in the middle. By the way, I always use the sheet horizontally and draw the letters so that they can be colored later. In our Mindmap Template Ringblock, KAWAs are drawn on the left white page. Now you let your thoughts wander and consider what comes to mind about the term and what would be important enough to write down. The rule of the game: What is written down must begin with one of the letters in the middle. The smaller the term, the fewer letters you have available, and the more you have to think.

Why does this technique work?

The lack of letters forces you to think more deeply about a topic. There is no obligation to fill every letter. Also, more than one association can be found per letter. And: There is no right or wrong in a KAWA. So my associations from the calendar will be completely different from yours. And anyway – perhaps you should first consider your own associations before looking at mine from the calendar. It's a nice mental technique that, by the way, makes you more creative. An example: Suppose you want to create a KAWA about your best friend Eva, then you only have three letters available. However, you can use them multiple times. Perhaps E stands for elegant, successful, eloquent, for V you find her trustworthy, crazy, and in love, and for A you associated silly and single. If your best friend had been named Hannelore, you would, of course, have had more letters available.
