The Origin Story
It was Sebastian Leitner who invented the well-known flashcard box for better learning. What far fewer people know is that he also came up with the idea of inventing a modified learning method for vocabulary acquisition. He called it the Patience System. This system was based on regular vocabulary repetition, but not in the traditional sense:
Difficult vocabulary words were repeated more often than easy ones. The order also constantly changed.
